Ang’ata Ngorongoro Camp

Ang’ata Ngorongoro Camp is strategically situated just past the Lemala Gate entrance on the descent road into the crater, allowing for early morning game drives. After morning wildlife viewing, guests can return to camp for lunch prepared by the chefs. A lounge adjacent to the mess tent offers relaxation in the afternoon under the acacia trees.

The camp lies on the eastern rim of Ngorongoro Crater near Crater Lodge, just inside the conservation area boundaries. This prime location permits early access to the crater floor to discover the UNESCO World Heritage site before others arrive. Approximately 25,000 animals inhabit the crater year-round, with the exception of Maasai giraffes who cannot manage the steep crater slopes. The endangered black rhinos, of which about 23 remain here, are a top sighting for guests.

Nearby Maasai villages also provide opportunities for cultural learning. With its strategic position for wildlife viewing, comfortable amenities and proximity to the Maasai community, Ang’ata Ngorongoro Camp makes an ideal base in the Ngorongoro Highlands.
