How to get there?
By Air
-
Moshi Town doesn’t have its own international airport, but the most common way to reach Moshi by air is to fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), which is the closest major airport to the town. From Kilimanjaro International Airport, you can reach Moshi Town by road, a journey of approximately 40-45 minutes. Many international flights from Europe and other parts of the world connect to Kilimanjaro International Airport, making it a convenient option for travelers heading to Moshi.
By Vehicle
- From Kilimanjaro International Airport: After arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you can hire a taxi or use a pre-arranged airport transfer service to reach Moshi. The airport is located approximately 40-45 minutes away from Moshi Town, and the drive is straightforward.
- From Arusha: If you’re in Arusha, another major city in Tanzania, you can take a bus or a taxi to Moshi. The distance between Arusha and Moshi is about 80 kilometers (50 miles), and the journey takes around 1.5 to 2 hours by road, depending on traffic and road conditions.
By Train
- As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, there were no direct train services to Moshi Town. Tanzania’s railway network is limited, and the main train line runs from Dar es Salaam to other major cities like Dodoma and Tabora, bypassing Moshi. It’s recommended to check with local authorities or transportation agencies for any updates on train services to Moshi, as infrastructure and services may have developed since then.
